Mount Abang Trekking Experience

About Mount Abang

Located on the eastern side of Lake Batur, Mount Abang is the highest peak on the rim of the Batur caldera and the third highest mountain in Bali, standing at approximately 2,150 meters above sea level.

In prehistoric times, Mount Abang was part of a much larger Mount Batur volcano, which once reached a height of nearly 4,000 meters. A massive eruption split the volcano, forming a vast caldera lake, with the smaller Mount Batur cone on one side and Mount Abang on the other.

Mount Abang remains untouched and naturally preserved, offering a peaceful trekking experience through lush forests and past several small Balinese temples along the trail. The sound of birdsong and the fresh, clean mountain air accompany you throughout the hike, creating a deep connection with nature and the calming energy of Mother Earth.

The view from the summit is truly breathtaking. You will witness clouds floating above Lake Batur and Mount Batur volcano on one side, while on the other side stands Mount Agung, known as the “navel of the world,” along with Bali’s stunning coastline in the distance.

We highly recommend starting the trek at sunrise, as the scenery during dawn is absolutely unforgettable. However, we also offer day trekking options for those who prefer not to wake up before dawn.

The hiking trail typically takes 2–3 hours to reach the summit, making it suitable for all levels, from beginners to experienced hikers. With the assistance of professional local guides, your Mount Abang trekking experience will be safe, comfortable, and memorable.
